How to Accept Credit Card Payment on a WordPress Website

If your website doesn’t accept credit card payments you are missing out on a lot. By default, WordPress doesn’t come with the credit card payment option. The best thing is that there are many plugins and tools you can use to make your website accept credit card payments.

If you don’t want a full-fledge shopping cart, you can still setup your WordPress website to accept credit card payments. This is more so if you only sell a single product or accept payments for services. To use this method, you just need an online order form with the credit card payment option. Here is what you need to do for this.

The first step is to install and activate WPForms plugin. This is a beginner friendly plugin. Go for the PRO plan and not the Lite Version. The PRO version will give you access to the payment add-ons. Visit WPForms>>Settings page and enter the license key. Once that is done, go to WPForms>>Addons page and locate Stripe addon. Click ‘Install Addon’ button then the ‘Activate’ button.

Stripe is a credit card processing platform which makes it possible for you to accept credit card payments on your WordPress website. the WPForms will make it easy for you to connect your site to Stripe.

You now need to connect WPForms to the Stripe account. Visit WPForms>>Settings page and click on ‘Payment’ tab. Enter your Stripe API keys from your Stripe’s account. Save the settings after entering the API keys. WPForms is now ready to accept credit card payments.

All that is left now is to create an online billing or an order form. To do this, you need to go to WPForms>>Add New page. Provide a title and select ‘Billing/Order Form’ template. The pre-loaded form builder will load with a template that you can edit. You can add as many fields as you want. Once you are done editing the details, add the credit card field.

The next step is to enable payments for the form. Click on Payments tab and select Stripe. Enable Stripe Payments and provide description of payments. You can also send an email receipt to users by selecting the email field available in the drop-down menu.
