What is a Post? And how do I add one?
The best way to organize your Posts is to use paragraphs; this makes the content easy on the eyes. You will also want to utilize the headings and the blog design. If the content is good, and the design makes it hard for people to take in, you will lose their attention. Keep in mind that you can edit and un-publish Posts whenever you like! That’s the beauty of WordPress!
Make them keep coming back because you offer unique information in a very unique way! Always consider your readers and never use “net speak” or slang!
A well-organized Web Design, that utilizes pictures and links, with the information people are looking for, will keep them coming back!
Steps to using a Post:
1. Log into your WordPress control panel(dashboard)
2. Click on Posts
3. Posts dashboard: where you can control and see all Posts that you have made whether you have published them or not.
4. Click “Add New”
5. Title your Post, and begin filling in the content using the toolbar to change font sizes, headings, adding pictures, and/or media.
6. To the left you will see settings box. This is where you will publish your Post or save it as a draft.
7. Next you can choose, if you have categories set up, if you would like this Post to fall into a specific post category.
8. You can also set this Post to be tweeted, all you have to do is add the correct information and it will tweet as soon as you publish it.
9. You will also be able to add your Post tags on this page as well.
10. Once done, click publish and VOILA! You’re done!
The main features of Posts are Title, Tags, Content, Comments, and Date Posted. The key difference between Posts and Pages is that Posts are used to give updates, or post a news article, much like a blog.
• Title Page: This is where you want to grab your readers attention! If you don’t grab them with a good title, they will not click on it or scroll down to read!
• Tags: These are used to help readers locate information on your website.
• Content: This is the main area where you share your news or update.
• Date Posted: You will normally see the date posted on the top of the page
• Comments: Comments can be enabled or disabled. This is where you can gain valuable feedback from your readers.
Posts will appear in your RSS feeds, so that your readers who subscribed to you will receive notification that you have updated your blog. This is yet another great business tool!
