How to Use a Distraction Free Full Screen WordPress Editor
Bloggers often crave for a distraction free full screen WordPress Editor. This is because creating a blog is a creative process that requires attention to detail and a lot of concentration. If you have been looking for a way to get a full screen editor, this post is here for you. This post looks at how to use a distraction free full screen editor. You will be able to switch between distraction free and regular mode whenever you want.
The first step is obviously to log in to your WordPress dashboard. Thereafter you need to go to Post>>Add New in order to create a new post. Now you will come to the editor that has the settings columns and toolbar. While these options are important, at times you just want a distraction free full screen editor in WordPress. The good news is that you can hide the distractions.
Enabling full screen mode
To hide the unnecessary options, you have to click on the three dots icon located on the top right corner of your screen. This will review hidden tools and options. They include Editor Options, View modes, plugin options and a range of other options. To hide the distractions all you need to do is click on ‘Fullscreen Mode’ option. Doing so will hide WordPress menus on the left as well as the top toolbar. This means you will have a full screen view of the WordPress editor with just a few editing options.
Spotlight Mode
The important point to remember about the new WordPress editor is that it is a block-based editor. This means you have to add a new block for every piece of content that you want to add. Content-heavy posts will have more blocks visible on the screen. The best thing is that you can simplify the page even further so that it has fewer distractions. To do this you need to enable the Spotlight mode.
With the Spotlight Mode, located above the ‘Fullscreen Mode’, you will be able to highlight the block that you are using and dim the other blocks. This means you will be able to edit your content even further with minimal distractions.
Even with the distraction free full screen WordPress Editor, you will still see two toolbars. This is the one on top that allows you to add a new block, undo changes and show outline of your article. The second is the one on top of every block.
Using fullscreen mode in Classic Editor
With the classic editor, you have to click on ‘Distraction-free writing mode’ button located in the post menu bar. The page will be converted into a distraction free full screen editor. The layout is, however, minimalistic. It also has a menu bar on top with the text formatting options.
