How to Add Wholesale Pricing in WooCommerce
Do you want to setup wholesale pricing in WooCommerce? If yes, this post is for you. By default, WooCommerce will allow you to only set normal pricing for your products. But what happens if you want to allow your buyers to place bulk orders?
Who needs to setup wholesale pricing?
If you are an online store that can fulfil bulk orders, then you should think about setting up wholesale pricing in WooCommerce. Wholesale pricing can also be used to offer discounts to the drop-shipping businesses. Considering WooCommerce doesn’t allow you to set different pricing options based on customer type or quantity, by default customers have to place their orders manually and negotiate for a discount. This is not efficient thus the reason you need to setup WooCommerce wholesale pricing.
How to setup wholesale pricing
First you need to install and activate the WooCommerce Wholesale Suite. The plugin enables you to sell products on wholesale on your WooCommerce store. The first thing you will need to do is install and activate Wholesale Pricing plugin. You then need to go to Settings>>WWS License page and enter the license key. You then need to create a new product or edit an existing product in WooCommerce. Scroll to the ‘Product Data’ section to set retail price. Below that there is the option for wholesale price for the product and the minimum number of items a buyer needs to order in order to unlock wholesale pricing.
Setting quantity based wholesale pricing
WooCommerce allows you to set different pricing for higher quantity. Go to the product edit page and scroll to the pricing section. Check the box next to ‘Enable further wholesale pricing discounts based on quantity purchased’. This will display the quantity based pricing setting. Choose the wholesale customer role and enter the starting quantity and the end quantity. Add pricing for the orders that fall in those quantities. Thereafter click ‘Add Quantity Discount Rule’. Repeat the process if you want to add more rules for the quantity based pricing. You can then save the product or simply publish it.
Viewing the wholesale product prices
Wholesale product pricing will be available to Whole Sale Customers. Logged in wholesale customers will see wholesale pricing on product pages.
Global discounts for wholesale customers
Typically, adding the wholesale price for every product is done manually. The WooCommerce wholesale prices plugin makes it easy for you to set global discounts for the wholesale customers. Go to WooCommerce>>Settings page and switch to Wholesale Prices tab. Select the ‘Discount’ link. Choose a customer role and add a discount value. Click the Add Mapping button to save the discount. The discount will be available to products with no wholesale pricing.
To set quantity based global discount, go to the ‘Discount’ page under plugin settings and select wholesale customer role and add the start / end quantity with the appropriate discount value. Click Add Mapping button to save the rule.
Creating wholesale customer roles
To create a wholesale customer role, you need to go to WooCommerce>>Wholesale Roles pages. Choose the user role you want on Global discount settings or product pages to offer different pricing options.
