How to Display Your WordPress Photos in Columns and Rows
WordPress photos in columns and rows make more sense. They help you make good use of the space available without forcing your audience to scroll down for ages. By default, WordPress usually displays images in a vertical column. What this means is that if you have a hundred photos, they will be displayed on top of each other until the last photo. Being able to add multiple rows will help eliminate the need to scroll too much. This post takes a look at the steps you should take to display your photos in columns and rows.
Without plugins
You don’t have to download a plugin to display your WordPress photos in columns and rows. However, it is good to note that this method is a bit tedious thus it is ideal for users who don’t use a lot of photos. To use this method, you start by creating a new post or editing an existing one. Click on ‘Add Media’ button. This will launch the media up-loader.
From here, select the photos that you want to add to your page. After the upload, you will find the photos in the media library. After that, click on the ‘Create Gallery’ link. This is located on the left column. Click on the ‘Create Gallery’ button. This will give you gallery settings options. From here, select the number of columns that you want and the size of the images. Click on the ‘insert gallery’ button to proceed. Your images will now be displayed in columns and rows. To make additional changes, click on the photos in the post editor.
Using plugins
If you use lots of images, this is the method you should opt for. Search for a good plugin and install it. In this post, we will be using the Envira Gallery plugin. After installing, activating and entering the plugin license, go to Envira Gallery>> Add New page. From here, you can upload more files from your computer or just use the ones in the WordPress library.
After you upload the photos, select the config tab. This helps you customize the photos the way you want. Make changes on the ‘Number of Gallery Columns’. You can also change the size of the thumbnails and the amount of spacing between the columns. After editing, hit the ‘Publish’ button and your images will be ready for displaying on WordPress.
After that, you will notice a new ‘Add Gallery’ button on the post editor. Click on it then select insert button. The plugin will add the gallery short-code in your post.
