Download a copy of “importbuddy.php file. You will be required to give a password for the importbuddy. You will be using the password when restoring your WordPress website. You then need to download a copy of your backup. You can do so from BackupBuddy >> Backups. You can then use FTP to connect to your website. You should then delete the foles and folders from the server once you download the complete backup. You do this from the root directory of your website.
The next step is to upload the BackupBuddy backup and the importbuddy.php files onto the root folder of your website. Open importbuddy.php using your browser. You will need to login with the password you created after downloading ImportBuddy.
After logging in, you will see the files you recently uploaded. Alternatively, you can click on the ‘upload’ tab to upload the files. That is if you didn’t upload them using the FTP. Click ‘stash’ tab to connect to view your files. Hit next to continue.
ImportBuddy will unzip the files and display a successs message. Click Next to continue. You will now be asked to provide your website URL as well as database information. If you are restoring your website because of a malware or a hack, don’t use the old database. You can drop tables using phpMyAdmin from the old database or simply create a brand new database using the cPanel. After that, you have to provide the database details.
Once that is done, click on Next. ImportBuddy will test your database settings then import the WordPress backup data. Click Next to continue. ImportBuddy will now update your URLs, paths and so on. You can then test your website. If everything is working fine, the restore is complete.
